Bro (or Dirk) Strider is Dave Strider's ectobiological father and adoptive older brother. He raised Dave harshly, (with roof-top sword fights, pornography, and malnutrition), to the point of his behavior being considered abuse.

Bro Strider strifes daily with his little brother. He owns many weapons and “smuppets” that are sprawled throughout the apartment. He makes Saw-like snuff films involving his puppets and sometimes Dave.

He has a puppet named Lil’ Cal who whispers in Dave’s ear and tells him things. Bro also uses Cal to scare and torture Dave, even using him as a weapon during strife. Lil’ Cal is posessed by the souls of Caliborn, Gamzee, and AR, with Caliborn as the willful soul, and is a big contibuting factor in Bro’s abusive nature. He tells Bro to do things, essentially mind-controlling him (In the alpha timeline, Dirk (Bro) had no interest in the Saw movies or anything like them; he was into anime and horses ),: )

Lil’ cal is what’s known as a Juju; He has no clear origin and no end, there can only ever be one of him. A copy of Cal is in Dave’s dream room on Derse. Another is with Dirk Strider in the alpha timeline. Neither of these versions are possessed as they are not the real Cal; the real Cal is with Bro Strider in the beginning of the comic. He then finds his way to the trolls where Gamzee comes into possession of him.
